GROWING UP WITH TWO LANGUAGES: The Benefits of Multilingualism & Basque Immersion

Boiseko Ikastola is excited to welcome Ander Beristain, professor at Saint Louis University and the 2026 Jon Bilbao Chair at the Center for Basque Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, for a special evening exploring the benefits of bilingualism and Basque immersion.

 September 29, 2026
 7:00–8:00 PM
Leku Ona Basement – Boise, Idaho
 FREE & OPEN TO EVERYONE

What will we explore?

Ander will share insights on:

• Why early childhood is such an important time for language acquisition
• The benefits of growing up bilingual
• How language immersion supports children’s learning and development
• What children gain from learning in Euskara (Basque)
• Why bilingual education can be a valuable opportunity for both Basque and non-Basque families

The evening will also be an opportunity to learn more about Boiseko Ikastola, Boise’s Basque immersion preschool, and how children grow through Euskara, culture, community, play, and learning.

Whether your family already speaks Basque, you are curious about bilingual education, or you are simply interested in giving your child the opportunity to learn another language from an early age — you are very welcome!

Come learn, ask questions, and discover the possibilities of growing up with two languages.
